ATS Panel is an automatic change over. When the utility power(primary power) source in 1 fails to deliver supply to required load from the diagram above , the load is automatically transferred to generator via ATS/AMF panel. When the power from utility is back we achieve 3 as the above diagram display. By an automatic transfer switch, power failures are detected immediately through the relay which serves interface and send signal to contactor. What happen inside the ATS Panel is explained in 2 above. Contactor inside the panel is usually two with interlock between the two contactors.

The said panel function is to detect any failure in power and react automatically by transfer the load immediately to the generator.

Automatic Main Failure (AMF Panel)

AMF or Automatic Main Failure Control Panel is the device, which is used to control the generator set in a standby configuration. An AMF Control Panel consists of electronic circuit boards, power relays, battery charger, terminal blocks, and other necessary equipment, which allowed it to give a signal to the generator in the absence of main power. This may alert the generator and it starts automatically, so, you will never face the problem of total blackout, It's main function is to monitor the incoming AC supply activate the standby generator in the absence of main power, and transfer the power load from the main load to the generator. Furthermore, when the main power returns, this AMF Control Panel manages a return to the main supply and automatically shuts down the generator after an appropriate cooling run. It gives protection against spikes generated at the time of the start and stop of a heavy motor. This panel may generally perform all its functions automatically and therefore, you don't need a labor force to work upon it.

AMF Panel - Automation Technology

Different types of switchgears uses in AMF Panel, something like this.

  1. Full Relay Protection for 3-Ph, 4-wire System. Transfer to emergency source when voltage on any phase drops to 70 percent or less. Re-transfer to normal when all phase voltages are 90 percent or more.
  2. Adjustable time delay on generator start sequence, 10 seconds maximum, in all second intervals.
  3. Adjustable time delay on automatic transfer to normal, 15 to 30 minutes in 1 minute intervals. If the emergency source fails and power is available from the normal source, the time delay shall be defeated and the transfer operation immediately initiated.
  4. Two normally open and two normally closed auxiliary contacts on main shaft.
  5. Mounted pilot light to indicate switch in normal position.
  6. Mounted pilot light to indicate switch in emergency position.
  7. Engine Starting Contacts.
  8. Test switch and necessary equipment for remote test switch.
  9. Under-frequency Relay.
  10. Other Controls as necessary for the smooth automatic function of the system.

Advantages of AMF Panel

  • Uninterrupted power supply : The AMF Panel does not let the power cuts be a deterrent and you do not have to run every time to start the generator at times of power cut.
  • Automatic Changeover between Mains Electric Supply and DG.
  • With PLC & DIEF along with reputed parts.
  • Best suited for single and Double D. G handling.
  • With oil check alarm.
  • AMF control system provides.
  • Consistent power supply to the load in absence of main supply.
  • DG set protections.
  • Smooth Start/Stop Sequence.
  • Audio visual indications of various fault conditions.
  • Protects the load from voltage fluctuations.
  • Auto Manual modes of operation.
  • Mains failure and voltage fluctuations detection.
  • User friendly.
  • 14- GUI interface with TCP/ IP over GSM/GPRS (Optional).

Application

  1. AMF Control Panel is for controlling two DG Sets, Master DG and slave DG.
  2. Auto mains failures (AMF) Panels are meant for controlling DG START / STOP sequence in accordance with the availability of utility power supply.
  3. We design & manufacture the AMF panels for various capacities & different make of Diesel EA set. This is a Module with Generator monitoring, protection, and start facilities. The operation of the module is via three pushbuttons mounted on the front panel with STOP, MANUAL, and AUTO positions. Selection of the ‘Auto’ mode is confirmed by LED indicator and monitors the incoming mains supply (3 Phase or Single phase). Should the incoming AC mains supply fall below a configurable pre-set limit, the generator will be started, and load transferred to the gen-set. When the AC mains supply returns to within limits, the module will transfer load back to the mains. The engine will be instructed to stop after a cool-down period. The module’s microprocessor provides comprehensive functions.
